Whether you’re a breeder, a working dog enthusiast, or simply someone who appreciates quality bloodlines, two names often stand out in conversations about excellence. Each represents a distinct expression of working ability and breed development—and both continue to influence the next generation in meaningful ways.

For me, this has never been about comparison. It’s about respect for what each line contributes, and genuine excitement for what they are capable of producing moving forward.

My name is Sylviane Chapoulaud, founder of the Dutch Shepherd News website and owner of Wildflower Dutch Shepherd Kennel in California.

My journey as a breeder began over a decade ago, inspired by owning a son of Holland Messi v. Le Dobry Kennel and La Terre des Flandres FCI bloodelines. That experience profoundly shaped my understanding of what true working ability and strong, purposeful bloodlines represent.

Living with and working a descendant of such a dog gave me a deeper appreciation for what titles truly mean. They are not just words on paper—they are expressed in the dog itself: in drive, intelligence, stability, and presence. They represent a living connection to some of the most influential working dogs of their time.

Over the years, I have developed a strong respect for breeders who dedicate themselves to preserving and improving the Dutch Shepherd. The work required to maintain both integrity and functionality in the breed is not simple, and it deserves recognition.

I believe it is essential to highlight those who lead with ethics, professionalism, and long-term vision—those who protect the legacy of the Dutch Shepherd while continuing to move it forward responsibly.

Through Dutch Shepherd News, my goal is to share knowledge, highlight quality bloodlines, and provide a platform where respected voices in the community can contribute and be heard.

I have been inspired by this level of commitment for many years, and I remain inspired today.

I also extend an invitation to breeders who share the same ethics, dedication, and respect for the breed to join this platform. If you are committed to preserving and advancing the standard with purpose and integrity, I welcome you to connect and contribute. This is more than a collection of titles or pedigrees—it is the ongoing legacy of dogs and breeders who continue to shape, refine, and elevate the standard for generations to come.
